Dorking Radical Film Festival

Live event or show

Description

The Dorking Radical Film Festival 2024 will showcase four independent films by local and national film makers that highlight communities impacted by lifechanging major events. Artist and film maker talks will accompany each screening starting on October 4th with Close Knit. Close Knit by local artists is an animated documentary which takes a warm and poignant look at the richness and diversity of life and what makes a Close Knit community. The film takes an imaginative leap to look at life beyond the mining industry in a Northumberland town. The film festival screenings will also cover diverse topics ranging from politics, the miner’s strike, knitting and Covid with a common thread of communities coming together against the odds running throughout the festival. The award winning Still the Enemy Within showing on October 18th is an uplifting, moving and sad with its focus on the mining communities that fought against the pit closures 40 years ago. All the films will be shown at the Green Room and tickets include the talks.
