Description
Dorking Folk Club provides a venue in central Surrey where the very best traditional and acoustic musicians and singers can be heard. Our aim is to keep folk and acoustic music alive and available, to support live artists and to provide great entertainment.
Our programme alternates between Guest Nights which feature acclaimed artists from the national or international scene and Singers’ Nights which showcase performances by our talented members and visitors. Singers’ Nights are open to any acoustic performers who wish to present 1 or 2 items in a floor spot taking no more than 10 minutes, There is no pressure to perform and those who just come to listen are equally welcome.
On 2nd October we welcome Nick Marshall as our Guest. Nick is an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist. He lives in the north of England and is not often in the south, so this is a special treat. Entry £10.
On 9th October we are holding a special Charity Singers’ Night in which all proceeds from the entry charge and a raffle will be donated to Cancer Research UK. Entry £5.
On 16th October Pete Coe is making a welcome return visit. He is a real stalwart of the English folk scene having been a professional folksinger and musician since 1971. A great evening in prospect. Entry £12.
On 23rd October we have a Singers’ Night with the theme of ‘Nature’. However, if you would like to perform but don’t have a piece about nature, you can still do so! Entry £3.
On 30th October we welcome Jack Rutter to the Club. His songs have a strong narrative element supported by guitar, bouzouki or concertina accompaniments. Entry £12.
